I was challenged by the Career service at the Karolinska Institute to create a series of 5 illustrations
to portray the different stages or modules of their Career Skills Course. The course provides graduate students with the tools they need to shape their professional future.

This was a special project for me, since this course had a significant impact on my own career path
and presented me with the chance to give something back to the university where I got my PhD degree,
so it felt like coming full circle in a way.

1. Know Yourself
The first stage consists in learning about yourself, all the way from your skills
to your passions, from the head to the heart.

2. Know the Jobs (in Academia)

The second stage consists in learning about the different jobs in Academia and what it takes to start/manage your own lab, including the skills you need to develop along the way to succeed.

3. Know the Jobs (Beyond Academia)

The third stage consists in learning about the different jobs that exist outside of academia.
It reflects the importance of becoming familiar and exploring all the different options out there,
in a much bigger landscape, so you can follow the path that suits you best.

4. Get the jobs (Networking)

The fourth stage consists in the doing your research to get the jobs. It highlights how fundamental it is
to build your network(s), which can present you with unique career and mentorship opportunities.

5. Get the jobs (Applications)

The fifth and last stage consists in tailoring your applications to get the jobs you seek.
It covers the final step of applying all the skills and knowledge acquired during the course
to tackle the job market.‍
